Strength and Beauty
Watercolor

The beauty of Koi is held in the highest esteem by Japanese culture and named the national fish of Japan. The Japanese name for koi is Nishikigoi and was cultured by the Japanese over 200 years ago. Koi reside and flourish in well-aerated and filtered ponds. Their ponds are set in beautiful landscaped gardens. They can grow to 24-36 inches in length. Average life span is 25-35 years. The varied colors and artistic markings make them living jewels to be enjoyed and treasured. Painting this original was shear joy and with the koi swimming upwards, is symbolic of good luck.
