Sweet Plumeria
Watercolor

The sweet fragrant smell of plumeria is very commonly found in Hawaii. Some of the first flower leis were often sewn with this flower. These multi colored blossoms worn over the ear indicate whether women in old Hawaiian times were available or spoken for. Flowers worn over the right ear meant you were single and available. Flowers worn over the left ear meant you were married or taken. Just a little Hawaiian custom I wanted to share with you. This painting was done as a commission piece as a wedding gift.
